Futsal is an exciting, face paced version of soccer played indoors on a hard court. The sport differs from indoor soccer in that there are boundary lines delineating the court requiring good ball control, footwork and reflexes to keep the ball in play and the ball is smaller and heavier than a standard soccer ball to reduce bounce. Games are played between two teams of five including the goalie.
Futsal is played across men's and women's competitions and will feature matches of 2 x 20 minute halves. Registration requires a minimum squad of 7 and a maximum of 13. There must be a minimum of 3 players on the court at the commencement of play to avoid incurring a forfeit. Each team may cross accredit a maximum of 3 players.
Futsal is a qualification sport in the men's and women's competitions at the Australian University Games and requires teams to qualify via their regional university games event.
